The Gale Sayers Center will be operated by a 501c.3, non-profit organization.   The mission is to provide children from ages 8-12, with a structured, intense environment to better their current education.

"Motivation...Education...Inspiration" are the goals.

There will be no cost to any student in the program.   Children in the program will also be taught to have respect for themselves and others in their community.   The Gale Sayers Center will feature the following:
COMPUTER CLASSROOMS
Modern computer classrooms offering workstations to accommodate a student and instructor will encourage students that they are not alone in their quest to better themselves.   This nurturing environment will be open on a first-come, first-serve basis.   Math skills will be improved utilizing a sports statistics software program being developed exclusively for the center.   Classrooms will have a minimum of 20 workstations.   Instructors will be student-interns from major Midwest universities such as Northwestern; Notre Dame; Purdue and Illinois.

JR. TOASTMASTERS PROGRAM
Personally developed by Gale Sayers, the Jr. Toastmasters program will formally introduce students at a young age to the art of public speaking. From banquet speeches to eulogies, students will learn how to project their voices and how to craft a message.

MENTORING & MOTIVATION PROGRAM
The Gale Sayers Center will host a regularly scheduled mentoring & motivation program, bringing in some of the finest business, civic and sports leaders to speak with the children.   The program's goal is to condition kids at a young age to prepare to be positive role models themselves, by being good students and citizens.   The mentoring & motivation program will encourage kids to develop aspirations and goals aside from sports.

NUTRITION AWARENESS PROGRAM
Childhood obesity has become a growing concern.  In an attempt to combat the problem, the Gale Sayers Center in cooperation with numerous area restaurants will hold a regular Nutrition Awareness program.  Each restaurant will serve a healthy menu for the students and teach them about nutrition and proper dining etiquette.

ED & STEVE SABOL THEATRE

The Gale Sayers Center will also be the exclusive home of the Ed & Steve Sabol Theatre/Library.   Named for the father and son team who co-founded NFL Films.  It is envisioned to become a popular tourist destination, both for Chicago residents and tourists.   The theatre will have an "intimate" feel, with a 99-seat capacity, in modern theatre-type seating.   Modern projection and sound will also be featured.   On occasion, documentaries and films of a general nature may be shown, that have an appeal to the center's visitors.

ROTATING DISPLAYS
A display area will be kept busy in the center, on a rotating basis.   These may include an American Football League Hall of Memories, named for the league formed at a meeting at Chicago's Sherman House Hotel.   "African American Pioneers of the Game" may be another, which features photos and memorabilia of those players who first broke thru barriers, which for many years shut them out.
